WHAT IS ¿DONDE ESTA MI GENTE?
¿Dónde Esta Mi Gente? is a Latinx Literary Performance Series. We organize dymanic high energy poetry, comedy and music shows by Artists of Latin American descent. Our performers are normally poets, writers, novelists, musicians, and stand up comedians. DEMG was created by Baruch Porras Hernandez who is currently the head organizer with the help of Galeria de la Raza. We are sometimes funded by KQED, and perform all over the bayarea!
Want to book us for a show? Bring DEMG to your university, party, dinner party, event, museum, and experience the electrifying voices of Latinx Performers! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for bookings.
DEMG began as a Festival of Latino Poetry and Spoken Word! For three days Latin American writers of all backgrounds got together to recite poetry in San Francisco! Part of National Poetry Month, ¿Dónde Esta Mi Gente? was created as a celebration of the Latino literary voice, a multigenerational, multicultural exchange that seeked to answer that question, (Where are my people?) and brought together some of the top Latino writers in the bay area in 2014.
Made possible by Galería de la Raza’s REGEN Artist Fund, Baruch Porras-Hernandez the program director and Galería de la Raza presented a city wide Latino Poetry festival for 3 days of poetry, in 3 different spaces, 22 writers, one city!
April 5th the show was at Books Inc. on Market street.
April 12th the show was at Magnet on 18th Street Free
April 19th the final show was at Galeria de la Raza in the Mission,

ABOUT GALERÍA DE LA RAZA
Founded in 1970, the Galería is a non-profit community-based arts organization whose mission is to foster public awareness and appreciation of Chicano/Latino art and serve as a laboratory where artists can both explore contemporary issues in art, culture and civic society, and advance intercultural dialogue. To implement our mission, the Galería supports Latino artists in the visual, literary, media and performing art fields whose works explore new aesthetic possibilities for socially committed art.
THE REGEN ARTIST FUND
The ReGen Artist Fund is a small grants program that seeks to provide Latino artists the grant writing and artistic program planning skills to write competitive proposals and to access government and foundation arts funding. The workshop presenters will explore strategies to make artistic projects compelling, to design projects that address the funders’ priorities, to target and reach an audience and to develop a budget, a work sample and a biographical summary. By the workshop’s conclusion, all participants will have completed a proposal draft and will have an additional two weeks to submit a final application to Galería.
